New imaging scanning technology to track stubborn cancer cells

In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in Birmingham and Warwick University, advanced imaging methods were used to identify cancer cells that remained after initial treatment of head and neck tumors. Head and neck cancer patients may no longer need to undergo post-chemotherapy trauma surgery to remove residual cancer cells, as studies have shown that innovative scan-guided monitoring can help determine if cervical lymph node dissection is needed and guide it.
According to previous treatment guidelines, all patients with head and neck cancer must undergo a 3-hour cervical lymph node dissection and a one-week hospitalization. There is still a high incidence after surgery because there is no reliable way to determine which patients still have Residual cancer cells.
Image-guided monitoring using positron emission computed tomography (PET-CT) means that surgery after conventional chemotherapy is no longer necessary and can better target the correct area of 20% of patients with persistent cancer.
Professor Hisham Mehanna from the University of Birmingham's Head and Neck Research Institute (InHANSE) explained: "After treatment, the remaining cancer cells play something like 'hide and seek'. Our research shows that PET-CT scans can be used to kill and discover. And effectively remove them."

Duo Limb Breathing Circuit

The Duo limb circuit is non-rigid tube used to convey gases or vapors between components of a breathing system. This anaesthesia circuit mainly made of EVA material, extremely flexible, kinking resistant, very high quality. Gas sampling line can be attached outside of circuit. The breathing circuit-duo-limb circuit weighs less than two-limb circuits, reduces torque on the patient`s airway. And it`s one single limb only , offers more versatility in use and transportation. Besides, the circuit can be assembled with water trap, anaesthesia mask, Breathing Bag, BV filter, Breathing filters-hmef and so on, to fit with various needs. Thus, there are different models according to the assembled accessories and tube length.
