1. Overview Passiflora, also known as egg fruit, passion fruit, and fruit of time, are Passiflora family Passiflora. Mainly purple passion fruit, there are some yellow fruit passion fruit. Fruit oval or spherical, smooth fruit surface, about 6 cm long, pulp is an orange-yellow viscous seed coat, wrapped in seeds in two sac forms, forming a lot of smooth particles, many seeds, black or black brown. Fruit matures and falls off naturally.
2. Storage Characteristics Passiflora is a typical type of Climacteric fruit with high release of ethylene. At 20°C, the release of ethylene at the peak of breath reaches 160-370 μl/kg.
After harvesting, it is easy to lose weight and degenerate. 7 to 10 days under the condition of room temperature, the peel loses water and shrinks, and it is susceptible to bacterial infection and rot.
It is sensitive to low temperatures and is prone to cold damage.
3. Storage Diseases (1) Brown Spot Disease This disease is caused by Alternaria tenuifolia. Diseases often occur during ripening, and brown spots appear as circular spots. Fruit harvested in humid and hot seasons is prone to brown spot disease.
(2) Fruit rot of Phytophthora infestans The disease is caused by tobacco and black mold variants. The fruit disease department is water-stained, and it shows green subsidence spots after drying.
(3) Cantharidosis The disease is caused by Septoria spp., which causes infection on fruit trees and causes inconsistent fruit ripening.
(4) Cold injury Passiflora is susceptible to cold damage when stored at or below 5°C. Symptoms are changes in the surface or internal color of the fruit, infestation spots, local water spots, inconsistent ripening of the affected fruit, or inability to ripen. Odor, perishable.
4. Storage technology (1) Harvested fresh fruits can be harvested manually. The processed fruit must be fully mature and natural shedding fruit. Picking fruit every morning can be fully developed. When fruit is scarce, it takes 1 to 3 times a week to collect fruits, and during the peak period of maturity, it needs to be collected every day to avoid losing weight and affecting processing quality. According to Shi Hongcai (1987), the fruit juice content was highest (42.5%) before and after the natural fruit drop. Timely picking can reduce weight loss by 10% to 20%, and the aroma is also strongest. When the fruit is harvested, it should be dried in a cool and dry place so that it will not rot. If it is not processed immediately, it needs to be stored at a low temperature.
(2) Storage conditions Passiflora is more sensitive to low temperatures, and will suffer cold damage when stored below 6.5°C. Higher than 6.5 °C will mold, 6.5 °C, relative humidity of 85% to 90% can be stored for 4 to 5 weeks.
(3) Ripening and Coloring of Purple Passionflower Commercially available mature fruit is a ground fruit picked up from the ground after being naturally detached, and will quickly lose water, shrink and be easily infected by bacteria. If the green ripe fruit can be harvested before it has undergone a respiratory transition and induced by cold, the storage period can be greatly extended. Arjona (1991) recommended that it be harvested 35 to 60 days after flowering (at this time the fruit is less than 10% purple, does not meet the requirements of the market), stored at 10 °C 10 angels after ripening, and then treated with 10 mg/l ethylene35 Hours, and then put in 21 °C for 48 hours, you can form a unique purple ripe fruit, purple color accounts for more than 80% of the surface. Sugar and soluble solids content are the same as those of ripe fruit.
